Our sister website, Cheltenham Southtown, has been given an award by the Library Services Trust and the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. The Alan Ball Award 2025 is for the Runner-Up prize in the E publication category. The judges said of the website:
“It contains excellent well researched and engaging content, with good, clear accessible design and navigation.
Many congratulations, it is fully deserving of a prize and you should be very proud of your achievement.”
In the 19th century the name “south town” was applied to the area encompassing Bath Road, Suffolk Road, Shurdington Road and Park Place but, from the outset, the South Town project also included The Suffolks and Tivoli.
Please visit the richly illustrated Southtown website to see the historical commentaries on shops and businesses, starting with the development of the area in the 19th century, and sections on the Leckhampton tramroad, local residents’ memories and schools projects.
